*Sorry for the late upload! Maggie and I were super jet lagged from residency.

The Year in Recap

It’s been a pretty big year for me. I’m in a loving, committed relationship, I graduated college, my dog died, we have two furry additions to the family, I was accepted to grad school…

I graduated with my BA this summer and I am seriously just amazed at myself. Growing up, I wasn’t what anyone would call an Honor Student.Β Yet, here I am, in a national honor society, with Magna Cum Laude on my degree. Man, if all those teachers could see me now. And you know what the weirdest part is? It wasn’t hard, it was just hard work. I just woke up one day and cared.

It hasn’t all been fun this year, though. Back in February we had to put my Belgian Shepherd, Precious, down. She was 14 years old, a month away from being 15, and couldn’t walk anymore. She suffered a stroke on a Saturday and we took her to the vet that Monday. It was so hard to put her into a box and wrap her up with a blanket that last time.

It’s Still Not Noon…

frustration_2Let’s talk about work. My work. My lack of work… the company I work for currently is about to switch data programs and so I haven’t been able to open any orders. Which, as you can imagine, has made my December incredibly boring.

Now, most people are happy to get paid for doing nothing. In fact, I know a great many people who would absolutely love it. Let me explain that the nothing I have been doing has not been in my home. I don’t get to take a nap in the afternoon. And I sit in front of my boss which makes it a little hard to goof off and/or read. The first day that I had nothing to do–not that bad.

The 30th day that I had nothing to do–agony.Β

My Little Hiatus

School is winding down and so all of my classes are piling on the work. I won’t bother to list all of my assignments that are do within the next weeks. It’s a lot. That’s all that really needs to be said.

It made me wonder how Olympic level archers find the time between work and practice. I’m supposed to be shooting 100 arrows 5 times a week, but life is getting in the way. School isn’t the only thing getting in the way, I also want to see my friends and be social. My life feels like a giant triangle. The points are being social, shooting, and school, and I can only devote my time to one of them.

The worst part is that all I want to do is go out shooting. I’ve given the archery-virus to some of my friends, but they can’t all shoot with me all the time. Shooting helps me to de-stress when my workload gets too high. I hate not being able to shoot every day.

I can’t wait for May 10th. I walk in commencement on May 16th.

THEN I CAN SHOOT ALL THE TIME!
