This… was the worst episode of Shadowhunters that I’ve seen yet. Where do I begin here?
I guess I’ll start with the setting. The Institute. The mysterious institute of–what exactly? Because that hasn’t really been explained or revealed in the TV show. Oh, we’ve seen some random “girl” training with Hodge (but seriously the actress looked well into her thirties–aren’t these supposed to be teens?), but other than that the “Institute” is just a bunch of computer screens.
Let’s just save ourselves the time and do a bulk review to catch ourselves up, shall we? Yes, I gave Shadowhunters three stars. But it’s for episode two through four, so I’m really judging close to three hours of content.
Okay, so FreeForm’s Shadowhunters started a few weeks ago, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. It feels like a well-budgeted b-film and–not surprisingly–I kind of like that charm about it. But that’s not why you’re reading this review.
So I didn’t read the books, that’s an important lead out here. I have only Tumblr based fandom knowledge. I know going in that there are angels, demons, vampires, etc. and that humans are called mundanes.
Whelp! I just sent off my application for an internship at Quirk Books. Here’s hoping that I get the Spring Internship!
*crossing my fingers*
It’s a social media and digital marketing internship which brings us to the question: why social media and digital marketing?
The short answer: I just want to work with books.
The better answer: I have genuinely been wondering how much more I would have read had social media been around when I was younger. Oh, I had MySpace and LiveJournal (they make me feel ancient just typing out their names) but they weren’t really as community based as Facebook and Tumblr. My friends were avid readers, but I wasn’t. Not until Harry Potter anyway–which is a story I have told at least 10,000 times on this blog. I wonder if I had seen the fandom on my feeds the way I do now if I would have started reading earlier.
Listen up Ladies and Gents! I’m going to BookCon 2015! Ordering my ticket TODAY! I’m so excited!
Especially since one of my last posts was about book conventions. I’m hoping that it will be everything I want it to be. I mean so many many authors I’ve read are going:
Ah sweet, warm, and comfy bed. It feels like such a comfort to be in bed as my week ends. I mean, more so than usual. As some people know, a friend of mine passed away suddenly from a heart attack recently and I (and my friends and some family) are still dealing with that grief. On top of that, I am working through a sinus infection which is making me feel like my head might implode… or explode… there’s is so much pressure right now I can’t really tell which way it’s going. Almost seems like it’s a metaphor… a snotty tissue, lung hacking, mucus coughing filled metaphor.
I especially love the medicine. Antiobiotics that make me want to hurl unless I eat too much food and cough syrup thaf I shoukd really oly take when I have no where to go… for about a week. I’m kidding… sort of…
I wanted to talk about books actually. You see I recently pre-ordered a book and received it yesterday. It’s a hardback and I’m REALLY SUPER DUPER OMG ASDFGHJKL EXCITED ABOUT IT!
I haven’t pre-ordered a book since he 7th Harry Potter book. The book the The Red Queen, by Victoria Aveyard. I did a little post about the first seven chapters a few weeks ago. Which I would link to were I not typing on my phone.
Long story short, I’m really excited to just be this excited about getting a book.
Any who… it’s late. We’re all tired and I have to go to work in a few hours.
Post another soon!
PB (Post Blog, get it? I’m hilarious) Please forgive my terrible typos. I typed this on my phone… the laptop is really far away… near my desk… and the desk top… and it’s cold outside of my bed…
