May Wrap Up

In my personal life…

I finally started making the centerpieces for my wedding. Need something to do with those ARCs? Wrap them in scrap book paper!  But seriously, these books look amazing and I can’t wait to stack them up. Also-every time I tell people we’ll add the candle next to the book everyone responds with “BUT THEY’RE FLAMMABLE!” Like-uh huh-and did you forget about LEDs? Because they exist for that exact reason.IMG_20170519_091607

In my writing life…

As a punishment–er–present to myself this summer I am rewriting one of my pieces from a different character’s POV. I’m also currently working on two other peices, one of which is with Magdalyn Ann.

I’m hoping to finish the re-write this summer so that it’s done and I can focus on edits, but the other two pieces are still fresh little babies. One of them, I actually just pantsed a lot of it and it was amazing to just let my creativity ride. But I’m finally at a point that I have ten end-game scenes and only a few things to begin with and I’m looking for the bridge in between them.

As so the co-written piece: We are planning some bare bones with it and jumping around like bunnies on that thing. But I think we have to. We can’t both write the same scene and it works really nicely to connect my work to someone else’s. I’ve no idea how Maggie is holding up with that because she is not a jumper.

I’m becoming a jumper.

Poor Maggie.

In my reading life…

I read–like–no books this month. That’s a lie. I read 3. I think. My history says 4. More like 4 1/2 since I’m still in the middle of one.

E-ARCs I’ve Requested

  • Warcross by Marie Lu
  • Cast No Shadows by Nick Tapalansky
  • Little Monsters by Kara Thomas
  • Shimmer and Burn by Mary Taranta

On the blog…

I’ve actually been pretty active this month and I’ve definitely delved more into the community. Especially now that it’s summer and I have the time to do so.

She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults, an MA in Writing, and a BA in Writing Arts (specializing in Creative Writing, New Media Writing, and Publication; concentrating in New Media Production), which she somehow managed to earn despite her three very loud and large dogs. Jessica was lucky enough to intern at Quirk Books and Picador, USA while earning her master’s degrees. Her service dog, Ringo, is very proud of all that she has accomplished and hopes to be on a back cover of a published book with her very soon. An avid reader, writer, and lover of young adult and middle-grade literature, Jessica’s bookshelf is overflowing with hardbacks, paperbacks, and a million half-filled notebooks. She is a proud fur-mommy to two lab/st-bernard littermates, a retriever-mix service dog, and one orange little hobgoblin cat, all of whom have made very audible appearances on the Booked All Night podcast.

  1. I’m so not a jumper and not being able to write everything in order is soooo hard! But I’ll have to get used to it. I can’t believe you requested Warcross! Did you request it off netgalleys or edelweiss?
